Accommodations
Gateway Argentina offers four distinct types of accommodation for our participants. We understand that one of the hardest parts of living abroad and adjusting to a new country is finding the right place to live. We have strived to create a network of great housing opportunities because we know that this has a significant impact on your overall experience in the city of Buenos Aires.
We offer:
•
Home-stays
•
International Student House
•
Shared Apartments
•
Private Apartments
Our Commitment to you:
We promise to offer only the best housing options in only the best neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. All of our accommodations have been handpicked by a Gateway Argentina staff member based on our extensive evaluation of their quality, location and our relationship with the property owner or host family.
What we ask of you:
Before deciding what type of accommodation you think will work best for you, please take a moment to read all the information below. We have outlined the difference between the options; this will better inform you of the distinct styles of living. Once we confirm your accommodation request, it is very difficult to make changes.
HOME-STAYS:
Home-stay includes:
• Single room, with Linens provided
• Includes breakfast
• Telephone access
• Home atmosphere
Some things to think about before choosing a homestay are:
• Would I enjoy living with a family?
• Would I be comfortable with sharing a bathroom?
• Can I live with pets?
• Will it be difficult to have privacy?
• It has been a long time since I have lived with a family, will I adjust?
• Will my dietary restrictions be too much to ask of my family?
• Will I be able to adapt my schedule to a family atmosphere?
• Will I be happy if my home-stay "family" was an individual or older family?
We recommend home-stays if you can easily adjust to living with any age group, as some homes may have young children while others may have seniors living in the house. Home-stays are ideal for practicing Spanish with Argentines. Sharing meals with your new family provides an excellent opportunity to speak Spanish. Home-stays require flexibility and cultural adaption.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HOUSE:
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT HOUSE include:
• Single or Double room
• Shared bathrooms and common areas
• Internet access
• Students and travels from all over the world
• Very social atmosphere
• Telephone access for incoming calls
• Kitchen area and Patio
• Cleaning Service
Some things to think about before choosing the International Student House option:
• Will I enjoy living in a very social setting?
• Will I be ok with sharing a room with another international student?(not necessarily a Spanish speaker)
We recommend the international student house option for participants who want to live in a social setting, can share a room and bathroom with another student, who want to meet international students from all over the world, are open minded, and are willing to adhere to the code of conduct required by house management.
SHARED APARTMENTS:
Shared Apartments include:
• Single room
• Host who is a student or young professional
• Telephone access for incoming calls
• Internet access (where available)
• Full use of common areas
Some things to think about before choosing the Shared Apartment option:
• Will I enjoy living with a young Spanish speaking professional or international student?
• Will it be easy for me to make friends?
• Will I be able to feel at home in someone else’s apartment?
• Will I be able to adjust to whatever their “house rules” are?
• Can I live with pets?
We recommend the Shared Apartments option if you enjoy meeting new people, are open minded and are looking forward to learning about the lifestyle of young professionals and students in Buenos Aires.
PRIVATE APARTMENTS:
Private Apartments include:
• Studio or single room apartment
• Full kitchen
• Full bathroom
• Complete privacy
• Telephone access for incoming calls
• Cleaning service
Some things to think about before choosing the Private Apartment option:
• Will I enjoy living alone?
• Will it be easy for me to make friends?
• Will it be difficult for me to practice my Spanish?
• Would I be comfortable discovering many ‘how-to’s’ on my own?
We recommend Private Apartments for people who enjoy having total freedom, who are used to living independently and have the initiative to discover things on their own. Additionally this is a good option for people who value their privacy and enjoy their own space.
The next step:
