Gateway Argentina has put together a trusted network of Spanish schools, private instructors and accommodation providers. We work together with local organizations to create programs that offer the best of Buenos Aires. Other benefits of our comprehensive immersion programs include
Upon arrival at Ezeiza International airport, your pickup coordination will already be arranged. After claiming your luggage and proceeding through customs and exiting the airport a driver pre-arranged by Gateway Argentina
will bring you to your accommodations. Once you arrive you will be greeted by your program coordinator.
City and Program Orientation:
Our city and program orientation happens at the beginning of each new session. All new program members are required to attend this orientation. At the orientation you will receive:
- City maps and guidebooks
- Calendar of social and cultural events in Buenos Aires
- Calendar of program events
- Contact details of your language partner
We offer to all of our participants a local cell phone for the duration of your program. This service requires a deposit of $60 US dollars. We highly recommend the use of this service. A cell phone will keep you in touch with other program participants, local friends, staff members and people who want to contact you from home.
Our language partner program connects you to local Argentine students studying English. Upon receiving your program confirmation we will locate a language partner with similar interests. The language partner will be a native speaker that can help you practice your Spanish; as well they can introduce you to aspects of the city that only the locals know. This is a fantastic opportunity to create a lasting bilingual friendship.
Our conversation club is an opportunity to engage in conversations based on important topics in Buenos Aires and Argentina while practicing Spanish and learning new vocabulary. The club meets at local pubs or cafes and discusses topics in an informal and open environment. Some conversation clubs are coordinated to be follow-up discussions of ‘Lecturas Culturales’ events. Each club is lead by a specialist on the topic, some topics include:
- The Economic Crash of 2002
- Evita: More than a Movie
- History of the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo
- How to “Parrilla” – Why Steak Will Never be the Same
- History of Mate
- Understanding the Statistics - A Look into the Porteno Psyche
Each week we will organize a socio-cultural event around the city. Here are some of the events we have planned. Group activities are optional, but we highly suggest you take advantage of these events.
- Tours of Buenos Aires’ famous barrios
- Tour of the catacombs below San Telmo – Buenos Aires oldest neighborhood
- Polo matches (seasonal)
- Visit to the Casa Rosada museum
- Tango shows
- Museum tours
- Parrillas (Argentine style BBQ)
